Contract Position

- Potential travel up to 25 days annually

The IHE Managing Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization with focus on:
- Increasing stakeholder engagement in standards development
- Expanding membership and revenue
- Raising public awareness of IHE’s activities and benefits

Worldwide, primarily North America and Europe
Organization
IHE International, Inc. is a US non-profit organization dedicated to improving the way health IT systems interoperate and share information. IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as W3C, DICOM and HL7 FHIR to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement and enable care providers to use information more effectively.

- Mission: IHE enables health systems and care delivery networks to adopt interoperable digital workflows that support evidence- and value-based health services. IHE develops workflow-based interoperability specifications and provides testing and validation capabilities that support the governance of health IT ecosystems as the foundation for health systems, care delivery networks and industry to improve health outcomes.
Major Accountabilities
IHE Strategy: Formulate and implement strategy based on input from the IHE International Board
- Identify and retain necessary resources including contracted services
- Manage benefactor and membership relationships
IHE Profile development: Achieve greater coordination, identify and address gaps in the process or approach, propose a sustainable work plan
- Work with Domain Coordination Committee and Testing and Tools Committee to ensure that IHE Profiles meet the market needs and are of a high quality
- Work with IHE Catalyst to ensure that IHE Profiles are testable
- Recruit and manage Technical Project Managers
IHE Contact person: Build effective partnerships, act as public spokesperson and liaise with stakeholders, especially with user and vendor associations and relevant SDOs
IHE Operations:
- Provide governance, oversight and secretariat support for IHE International’s committees
- Provide guidance on marketing and communications activities, in particular related to IHE Profile development
- Monitor budget and variances in expense and revenue, and report regularly to the Treasurer and Board Operations Committee
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Advanced degree in business administration, health or technology fields preferred
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing an organization
- Demonstrated planning, organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with customers, peers and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Fluent in English
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience in the health IT standards development community and digital health
- Experience working with users of healthcare IT interoperability standards, such as digital health agencies, governments, health associations and care providers
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary / multi-cultural teams in an international context
